FOOD POISONING!!! Everyone in the party got severe food poisoning after eating here! We had the hibachi and sushi appetizers. Called the next day to speak with the manager about it and he was "too busy" to take my call, even after the hostess told him that it was a health-related matter. Don't eat here!

My "tip" contains most of my review here. I will add that this was the best food we had in the area for the best value served by the friendliest, most attentive, yet discreet wait staff. Using the happy hour bargains, we had 3 special sushi rolls, lettuce wraps, 2 salads, and 4 :-) sake-tinis for $38.00 before tip!!!! See our photos. We were seated in the sushi area vs the hibachi area but could see the fanfare and enjoyment. We brought back a takeout menu to leave in our condo with high recommendation to visit this great place.

We celebrated my granddaughter's birthday here and I'd give it a 10. The food was great and the service also. Would highly recommend to friends and will be back!

I'm not reviewing the food because we never got to try it ... My wife and I stopped in last Saturday. We entered through the open door and walked up to the hostess and said, "Two please". She said, "I'm sorry but we don't open until 11 (am)." So I pulled out my phone and looked at the clock... sure enough it was 10:56. I replied, "So we can't get a table?" "No, you'll have to come back later when we're open." Needless to say we chose to go to another establishment.

Wasn't bad. You can order hibachi without sitting in front of the hot grill with a bunch of strangers. Meal was on the cheap side but tasted good. Sushi was above average. Service was polite but on the slow side. Was kinda odd having a fish tank on the bar at a place that serves 'fresh' sushi.

I have to say, there is no better deal than the sushi dinner for two but I am so disappointed with the service. Absolutely horrendous. The last two times we've ordered (a couple weeks apart from each other) we've been placed on hold for 15+ minutes before having to hang up and call back in for someone to take our order. The second time we tried to call back it rang for several minutes before anyone even answered. The first time we went to pick up our order the restaurant was barely busy and no one was at the front desk but there were 3 or 4 waitresses wandering around the mostly empty tables. The second time they called us at 10:05 to let us know the order was ready but when we arrived at 10:10 to pick it up we had to wait 15 minutes while employees just stood around the front counter. Finally our order tonight was incorrect and we had to wait on hold again in order to get it corrected and then drive back to pick up the items they messed up. I don't care how good the sushi dinner for two may be we won't be returning. It's not worth the hassle. Please note we've only ever gotten orders to go so this review is for that experience only, not the dine-in service. The food itself is also pretty good which is the only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one.

Meh, it was a decent hibachi grille! The wait however was extremely long!!! We waited over an hour to sit down, then we were probably there another 2 hours waiting on food. The chef/cook didn't really put on a show and it was my parents first time at Hibachi, which was disappointing. He forgot to cook/bring out half of our meals so i'm sure that's what took so long. Servers were not the greatest, didn't see them much, had lots of empty glasses. Food was tasty though once we finally got it, and portions were good. Not many choices for hibachi in this area, so I guess you could say it's acceptable if you're really in the mood for some hibachi!

I should have reviewed this place before but this review will focus on today's visit. The 3 of us showed up just after 4:00pm for an early bird special for $10.95. We expected a choice of shrimp, chicken or sirloin with vegetables and choice of noodles or rice. This is not what we received. We got all three! With loads of veggies and noodles deliciously prepared by Jay. Hot saki was 2 for one and delivered hot by Melissa along with ice cold Saporo beer. The meal was finished with the Triology of Chocolate shared by all. Fantastic meal and the fact it was early bird makes it so much better. Only negative was the hairy man in the white wife beater t shirt at the table across from us. I commented to management they were lowering themselves by allowing this. And for those that might wonder if this REALLY affected my dining experience, yet, it did.

ABSOLUTLY the worst service ever!!!' No complaints with the food.... Not busy and I've had to track the waitress down 5xs now because our server is never be to be found having to ask other severs to find our server!! And the fact that we've been here almost an almost an hour just to put my order in and still waiting..... Don't know if I'll come back on a Friday night again..... Especially if you have plans.

Service was awesome. We had Victoria (who was also the bartender). We sat at the bar and ordered a few different sushi rolls. They were just average. Nothing spectacular... Maybe I'm being finicky... I don't know... but they didn't have a lot of flavor...

Things are just better here. The tempura crunch, the fresh taste, the presentation, the dine-in atmosphere, and colors (on your plate and the decor). For some reason even the avocado tastes better. These are things I never knew had a problem at my other local sushi favs, but now I know there is better out there. Plus...they're open late. An exhausted college student's dream come true.

Celebrated Valentine's Day here the night before Valentine's Day. Everything was wonderful! Food was delicious and the staff were all very friendly and organized. Will definitely be visiting again.

I love the good here. Both the sushi and hibachi are great. We have been here at least a dozen times. This place would have gotten 5 stars if the waitstaff was better. The food is always great but the waitstaff is usually mediocre.

I can honestly say that I did not eat here. I wish I had been able to. I walked the sushi bar just to observe the quality of the fish, as I am a bit of a sushi foodie. The tuna alone scared me. It was horrible quality fish and looked like it had not been well taken care of. On the other hand the atmosphere was nice and the decor was gorgeous. I did not get to try the teppenyaki grilled food either, because we left as quickly as we could. I wanted it to be good, but I can't give a good rating to a restaurant with that poor of quality fish.

My wife and I came here once due to the recommendation from Jamie, Noel, Nicky, and Jose from Grille One Nine. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple flights of sake and prepared for our sushi with some edamame. Our sushi was fresh ... especially the yellowtail ... and the owner Sean came over and talked with us for awhile. We will be going back this weekend ... and probably next week for more sushi but also to test out the Hibachi grill. If they stocked Ginga Shizuku - Divine Droplets this place would be perfect!

The food is amazing and the chefs cheesy jokes are still funny. It's not in the joke it's in the delivery and they all know you have heard these many times yet still play it off well. I can almost hear foze bears "wakka wakka!" From the Muppets.

Tonbo is a hidden gem in my city for great tasting Japanese food. They have a great selection of appetizers and entrees, although if you're hungry, your bill will add up quickly. The service has always been fast here and the waitresses always keep your drinks filled. Awesome place for a weekend dinner.

This is a nice place... Whether you're by yourself (as I was) or with a group, this place is definitely worth consideration. Both the sushi bar and the hibachi tables were pretty busy on the Sunday night that I showed up and I thought the staff was both bright & attentive and knew their way around the menu. In addition to a full-liquor bar, the beer, wine and saki selections were obviously put together with a lot of thought. Aside from the usual domestic offerings, the beer choices are from all over Asia and the saki list is worth exploring (try one of their two flights if you can't make up your mind). The food was really fresh and obviously constructed with a lot of care. I had a few pieces of negiri sushi (tuna and salmon) and a two rolls and I wasn't disappointed. Hidden among a flurry of QSR's, quick-casual restaurants and located across RT 19 from the Gulfstream Mall, this little jewel is (in my humble opinion) the best in the area. Why only four stars? The ambiance could use a bit of tightening up, but aside from that, the service and the food both shine through. I will be back and I will suggest it to others in the future.

Went with a party of 11 (called ahead to make sure we had space and the manager was very helpful) and four were children from ages 1-5. The experience was unforgettable. The chef was awesome and prepared our delicious food with flare. The kids were completely entertained. Which helped because of a mix up all of the kids foods took 30 minutes longer to arrive. I can tell you right now, that if that had happened in any other restaurant - it would have been complete chaos. The waitress was pretty attentive and the atmosphere great. The family had a blast and will definitely return!

My husband and I had got a babysitter last weekend and decided to go to Tonbo.. Very pleased. Our server "Nicole" was fantastic. She had been there all day and still had a great attitude. She made us laugh the entire time and really was a great server. Our cook "Josh" was awesome as well. He made us sushi to go one evening and it was so good. We were super excited to see that he was our hibachi cook!! The owner came over and we complemented the service. He was a nice guy as well. Overall a great experience,,,We will certainly return when we have a babysitter again.. Stephanie

It is hard for me to give a great review or a negative review. We had both sushi and an item from the hibachi. Let me preface by saying that the service was astonishing. They bent over backward to take care of our needs. With that said..the food: It wasn't great, it wasn't bad. Maybe it was just us being picky, but the flavors were just off. For instance the eel roll; it just tasted off. I have been to a ton of sushi restaurants and the eel roll has a certain flavor, this one had a certain sauce with it that I just didn't like. I ordered steak and shrimp off the hibachi and the same here, it was just ok. Just seemed to lack flavors for us. Give them a try and make your own decisions, but we probably will still head out to Bangok Sushi in Lutz.
